Optimise your eBay listing against real competitors
The grader looks at your listing in five ways and compares each with listings like yours that are live on eBay right now. A checklist can't tell you whether five photos is good or bad: that depends on your category. So instead of fixed targets, you see where you stand against your actual competition, and a list of fixes ranked by how much each one is worth.
You don't need to connect your eBay account, and there's nothing to install.
When you have more than a few listings
Grading one listing at a time works for your best sellers. Prolisto's fast product listing fills in full titles and item specifics as you create listings, from a photo, a barcode or an Amazon ASIN, so new listings start strong.
Questions about the listing grader
What is the eBay listing grader?
A free check of a single eBay listing. Paste a listing link or item number and it finds comparable listings live on eBay in the same category, then scores your title, item specifics and photos against them. You get an overall score out of 100, a score for each of five checks, and a list of fixes ranked by how many points each one is worth. Price and postage are shown alongside, but don't count towards the score.
How do I use it?
Paste your eBay listing link or item number and check the eBay site (it's picked for you when you paste a link). Add your email if you'd like the report sent to you too, then select Grade my listing. It takes a few seconds to find comparable listings, and the report appears on the page.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no card, and no limit on how many listings you can check. Grade a listing again after you change it to see how your score moved.
Why does my eBay listing title matter?
eBay's search matches what buyers type mainly against your title, so a title that is too short or leaves out key details (brand, size, material, model) won't show up for searches it should match. The grader also checks how many of your item specifics appear in the title: repeating the important ones there helps you match more searches.
What is the eBay listing title character limit?
80 characters. Treat it as a budget: every character you leave unused is a search term you aren't matching, so a 40-character title is half your visibility left unused. The grader checks how much of the 80 characters you use, compared with similar listings.
How many item specifics should an eBay listing have?
As many relevant ones as you can fill in accurately. eBay uses item specifics for its search filters (size, colour, brand and so on), so a listing with only the required fields is hidden from anyone filtering by anything else. The grader compares your required and recommended specifics, and your total, with what similar listings fill in, rather than with a fixed number.
How many photos should an eBay listing have?
eBay allows up to 24 photos on most listings, and listings with more photos tend to get more clicks and sales, because buyers can't see the item in person. The grader compares your photo count with your closest competitors, so you can see if you're behind what's normal in your category.
Does price affect my score?
No. Price and postage are business decisions, not listing quality, so they're shown separately and never counted in the score. You do see where your total (item plus postage) sits against comparable listings: cheaper, in line or pricier.
How do I make my eBay listing more visible in search?
Visibility is mostly about coverage. If your title is short or missing key details, or your item specifics are mostly blank, you simply don't appear in searches you could win. There's no way to boost a listing by hand: the fix is closing those gaps. The grader shows exactly where your title and specifics fall short of listings already doing well in your category.
Why is my eBay listing stagnant, and how do I fix it?
A listing with little traffic or no sales usually has one of three problems: the title doesn't match what buyers search for, the item specifics are too thin for eBay's filters, or it has fewer photos than is normal in its category. Relisting or cutting the price won't fix those. The grader shows which one is holding you back, ranked by how much fixing it is worth. Fix the top one, then grade the listing again.
How reliable is the comparison?
Each score is based on comparable listings found for your item, so it's more reliable when there are more of them. Each check is labelled high, moderate or low confidence depending on how many comparable listings were found, and the report says so when the sample is small, so you can treat the result as a guide.
What should I do with the results?
Start at the top of Biggest improvements: they're ranked by how many points each fix is worth. Quick wins (adding item specifics, a longer title, more photos) can usually be done straight away. Then grade the listing again to check your score went up.
